Scaling Climate-Smart Agriculture: Green Eden Farms Opens Call for Equipment Suppliers
Introduction
At Green Eden Farms, we believe that technology and innovation are key to transforming agriculture in Nigeria. As we scale our operations in Jos, Plateau State, we’re taking a significant step forward by opening a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the supply of critical equipment. This blog post outlines what we’re building, why it matters, and how qualified vendors can partner with us.
The Challenge We’re Solving
Post-harvest loss remains one of the biggest challenges facing smallholder farmers in Nigeria. Inadequate storage facilities, lack of temperature control, and limited access to modern monitoring systems result in significant crop losses—affecting farmer incomes and food security across the nation. Climate change compounds these challenges, making resilience and adaptation essential.
Our Solution: Solar-Powered Cold Storage & Digital Monitoring
Green Eden Farms is deploying an integrated solution that combines:
- Solar-Powered Cold Storage Units – Renewable energy-powered refrigeration systems that reduce dependency on the grid while lowering operational costs
- IoT Monitoring Systems – Real-time temperature and humidity tracking that enables farmers to monitor their produce remotely
- Smart Controllers & Sensors – Automated systems that maintain optimal storage conditions and alert farmers to any anomalies
This technology-driven approach not only preserves produce quality but also extends shelf life, reduces waste, and ultimately increases farmer profitability.
Why This Matters
Our Jos project, supported by PREO, is designed to:
✅ Reduce post-harvest losses by up to 40%
✅ Improve smallholder farmer incomes
✅ Strengthen climate resilience in agricultural value chains
✅ Create a model for sustainable food systems across Nigeria
